Fortune 500 Entertainment Company Streamlines DVD Production*

The Challenge

Consumer Products is a division of this entertainment company specializing in DVDs.  Their DVD creation process involves numerous people across multiple departments and was plagued by errors, duplication and delay.  So, they solicited Silicon Space’s help to make the process easier for multiple people to participate, reduce the number of errors and increase the time to market. 

The Solution

Silicon Space utilized a mixed team of US and Mexican based resources.  The Technical Architect, Senior Project Manager and Business Analyst located in California were able to perform high level requirements gathering with the client and then guide two Senior Application Developers and one Tester located in Mexico to build and test.  The team iterated this approach a couple times allowing the client to continually see progress and provide feedback.  Using a mixed team of this nature provides a substantial cost savings which allows more time to be spent by higher skilled resources. 

The Result

After two phases over the course of six months, the application was released to the first user base and allows coordination with multiple departments and users.  The application makes Consumer Products’ work easier, saves time, and reduces errors. Since the first release has been so positive, the application will be extended to vendors in the next release.
